Our Four Year Anniversary / NYE Celebrations.

Happy new year lovelies!

I hope you all had an enjoyable time last night, however you chose to celebrate.  I personally couldn't have given a rats arse how I celebrated this year, just as long as I got to ring in the new year with a midnight kiss from B. :)

As many of you may already know, new years eve just happens to coincide with mine and B's anniversary, with last night marking four years of us being together as a couple.  Now I realise that having our anniversary fall on new years eve must undoubtedly sound very romantic (it does to me!), however past experience has taught me that no matter how much we'd like to spend our anniversary together alone, we are always going to have friends (and one day a family) who will understandably want to celebrate the new year with us.

That being said, about a week ago we decided that from this point on we would celebrate new years eve with whichever friend/s happen to ask us first, and then make a special effort to spend and celebrate our anniversary together on new years day.  I don't know why we didn't think of this idea sooner, especially since B always works the early morning shift on new years eve and ends up sleeping for most of our anniversary day anyway, but I'm just glad we finally did..

I'm not going to lie, the thought of always having to share our anniversary with other people annoyed me immensely at first, but then I realised that if our anniversary were to fall on any other day we would want to be spending new years eve with our friends and family too.  Not only that, but I also wouldn't be blessed with the heart warming memory of B choosing to wait (for what felt like an eternity) until new years eve to ask me to be his girlfriend.. and I wouldn't trade that memory for anything!

Anita, myself and Jaana ready to party on New Years Eve.

Putting this new plan of ours into action, we celebrated new years eve by getting all dolled up (or in B's case having a shower, throwing on some clothes, and then sitting around watching tv and sipping on wine whilst me and the girls got ready) and driving up to Brisbane to attend a party with many of B's friends which we had been invited to over two months beforehand.  As I was still a bit bummed that we weren't celebrating our anniversary on our actual anniversary, I went into the party with low expectations, however I ended up having a really good night and it was lovely to be surrounded by such great company. :)

On new years day I ended up sleeping in (because evidently I can't even drink two cans of Johnnie Walker without feeling like shit the next morning), so B got up early and went down to the shops to pick up some supplies for a surprise bacon and egg breakfast.  Needless to say, it was a very welcome and delicious surprise!  After breakfast we lazed around the house for most of the day until it was time to start getting ready for our first ever gold class movie going experience.  :D  To my surprise, the movie we both agreed to see was Les Miserables, and let me just say that is was a miserable movie indeed.  We really enjoyed it though, and despite the movie putting me off my nachos (and then later on from going out for dinner), it was one of the best experiences I have had in my life. :)

How did you spend your New Years?
