Project: Longer Locks - 6 Month Update!

Hey lovelies,

Wow! I almost can't believe that today marks 6 months since I first started my longer locks project! The months have just flown by so fast!

It's been just over two months since my last progress report, so today I am here to share my latest measurements with you all. :)

So far this project has been very eye opening for me as not only have I been researching, introducing and eliminating a variety of products into my hair care routine, but I've also started looking into my overall diet and daily fitness and making adjustments accordingly.

What I've been doing to promote healthy hair growth:

  • Washing my hair once every 2-3 days using the Lee Stafford Hair Growth Shampoo, Hair Growth Treatment, and Hair Growth Conditioner.
  • Switching my shampoo up one day a week to a shampoo for colour treated hair (whatever I have in my shower at the time) then applying the Toni & Guy 'Reconstruction Mask' Deep Conditioner to the ends of my hair.
  • Applying 2 pumps of Lee Stafford's Nourishing Miracle Oil (a Moroccan argon oil) to the mid lengths/ends of my hair while it's still damp after being washed.  I'll also apply another pump to the ends of my hair on the in between days as I find it helps to keep my hair shiny and manageable.
  • Using a wide toothed comb to comb through wet hair, starting at the ends and working my way upwards.
  • Using the Michel Mercier detangling brush for fine hair when my hair is dry.
  • Only using snag free hair elastics (they do still cause a little bit of breakage, but no where near as much as other elastics I've used in the past).
  • Not curling or straightening my hair, and only using a hair dryer for special occasions.
  • Avoiding regular hair trims/colours (last week I had 1cm taken off and a semi permanent colour put through my hair for the first time in over 7 months.  I will probably wait another 6 months before having this done again).
Other things that might be helping:

  • Taking 2 Odourless Fish Oil/Vitamin D3 capsules and 1 Vitamin B Complex supplement daily.
  • Only drinking filtered water and avoiding drinking out of plastic water bottles as much as possible. This means no alcohol, soft drink, milk, juices etc.
  • Maintaining a diet that consists of around roughly 80% natural, unprocessed foods (I'm now aiming for 100%).
  • Going to the gym and working out at least three times per week.
  • Getting a full nights sleep.

Hopefully some of you found this post helpful and will be able to incorporate a few of these tips into your own healthy hair growth regime!  I probably wont get the chance to update you guys again in two months time as I will be out on my teaching internship, however I will definitely make sure to update you all at the 9 month mark sometime towards the end of June. :)
