Currently.

Reading:  Nothing to be honest.  Just my usual blog reads. :)

Watching:  Seinfeld reruns + lots of horror/thriller movies.  B and I also just finished watching season one of Hannibal, which wasn't all that interesting until the last few episodes.

Listening to:  'Walk On' by U2.  I'm pretty sure I want this to be the song that gets played at my funeral.  It got me through some of those hard moments after my Pa died, and I'd like to think it could possibly help get my loved ones through their own moments of grief when I eventually pass one day.

Smelling:  Our new air conditioner.  Maybe it's just me, but I think it has a nice smell. :)

Thinking about:  How I'm going to wear my hair and make up when we go out for dinner tonight.

Wishing:  That I had more time to get things done.

Working on:  Design jobs, design jobs and more design jobs.  Next thing I need to start working on though is fixing up the fence in our back yard so that future little doggies can't escape. :P

Loving:  GTA 5.  B purchased it for Christmas and I haven't stopped playing it since.

Anticipating:  Going up to visit Lucas again next weekend.  I'm curious to see how much he's grown since I saw him last. :)

Meet Lucas James!

On the 9th of January, 2014 at 10.40am, my (second) baby brother Lucas James was welcomed into the world. Weighing in at just 2.3kg (5 pounds 4 ounces) and measuring 50cm long, he was slightly smaller than the Doctor's had expected, but still perfectly healthy in every way.

I was asked if I'd like to stay in the delivery room when it came time for Lucas to be delivered, and although my initial reaction was to say no, I quickly warmed up to the idea, and boy am I glad that I stayed. :)

Watching my baby brother being born was the most precious and emotional moment of my life.  I had no idea what to expect or how I was going to react, but I was pleasantly surprised that despite Judy's screaming and quite obvious visible pain, the whole experience made me want to give birth naturally even more than I had wanted to beforehand.

If I wasn't clucky beforehand, I am certainly clucky now. ;)

Seriously, how can you not be clucky when a baby wraps their entire hand around your finger like this? :P

My life lately: New house + Christmas celebrations!

L-R: Laying my Papa's ashes to rest on my Nana's birthday // Moving into our new place // Painting my nails to get in the Christmas spirit // Hanging out with my baby cousin Nicholas // Opening presents at Mum's house // Boxing day at Dad's house // One of my favourite Christmas presents // The coffee machine I surprised B with for Christmas // Moving in to my brand new private office

I haven't done one of these instagram collection posts in a while, so I figured I'd skip right to the good stuff this time and make a collage of my favourite 'my life lately' moments instead.

As you can see from the photos above, December consisted mostly of moving house and celebrating Christmas.  We signed our lease Monday the 16th, moved in officially on the 22nd, headed to my Mum's house on the 23rd after having barely unpacked, visited my Mum's side of the family on the 24th for Christmas eve dinner, headed up to Toowoomba on the 25th for Christmas lunch with B's family, spent most of the 26th with my Dad and his new family, then came back late boxing day night to pass out from a massive food coma.

I'm pretty sure I might still be recovering from Christmas as I just haven't felt quite right since we got back.  I've set up my new office (which I'm still not 100% happy with, but I will be sharing an office tour here on the blog once I feel that everything is ready), gotten back into blog designing, cleaned our old apartment, tried out several recipes from my new Jamie Oliver cookbook, set up the awesome new coffee machine that I (with the help of B's brothers) surprised B with for Christmas.. but for some reason I just haven't felt quite at home yet.  It's possible that I'm just feeling unsettled because my new baby brother is due in the next 6 days and I'm planning to drop everything to go and up and see him when that day finally comes, but I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Other things I'd gotten up to before the moving/Christmas drama were laying my Papa's ashes to rest on my Nana's 80th birthday (it was such a beautiful way to say goodbye), spending time with Bianca before she moved away herself, catching up with Anita and Jaana and meeting their gorgeous puppy Lotte, and spending time with my favourite chubby one year old who I've been babysitting on a regular basis for the past three months now. :)

So what have you been up to lately?

Our Five Year Anniversary / NYE Celebrations.

Happy new year everyone!  I hope you all had a lovely time celebrating what to me was a very short lived but jammed packed 2013. :)

I had originally planned to write this post yesterday morning following mine and B's fifth year anniversary (can you believe it?!) and new years eve celebrations, but unfortunately I spent most of yesterday lying on the floor sleeping and grumbling about feeling sick.  New years eve wasn't much better, in fact it was much worse, because we literally spent the entire day cleaning our old apartment and by the time we finally got home I appeared to have come down with a 24 hour bug or something because when B started cooking us a roast chicken dinner I couldn't be in the same room as the chicken without running to the bathroom wanting to throw up. :(  Needless to say, I didn't end up eating any dinner, which in turn made me feel even more terrible as that was meant to be our way of celebrating our anniversary on our currently very tight budget.  We couldn't even take a photo together as I was barely able to keep my eyes open and had passed out asleep by around 9pm.  Heck, we couldn't even celebrate with a glass of champagne!

Rather than skip writing this post altogether though, I figured I'd still share what happened as without nights like these we wouldn't have as strong of a relationship as we do at this very moment.  The kind of relationship that can withstand illness, boredom, financial struggles, disagreements of opinion.. because how else would we have been able to make it to the five year mark? :P

So how were your new year celebrations?  Do you also happen to share your anniversary with new years eve?

Goals for 2014.

For the past few years I have been setting myself four general, achievable goals to reach by the end of each year.  Last year my four goals were:

1. Become more self confident by filming and publishing YouTube videos, expanding my blogging and YouTube audience, saying goodbye to the negative people in my life, and being more open with my family and friends.

2. Expand my design business to include personalised invitations, business cards etc.

3. Continue with my healthy lifestyle / longer locks journey, documenting my progress along the way.

4. Rid myself (and our apartment) of things we simply do not need.  Just get everything in order basically.

I am super happy with the effort that I made to achieve these goals, and with the exception of publishing more YouTube videos, I think I did a pretty good job. :)  I no longer allow negative people to filtrate my friendship circle, I shared my blog with my family and friends on several occasions via facebook and instagram, I joined bloglovin' and gained amazing new readers, I not only expanded my design business but made graphic and web design my full time job, I successfully completed and documented my longer locks journey, I started experimenting with healthy meal options and posted many of these recipes on my blog, I decluttered our apartment and got everything in order before our big move... yeah, a bloody decent effort indeed I think!

This year, however, I've decided to change things up a bit by only setting myself two goals to achieve throughout 2014...

1. Be earning at least $250 from my design business every week by the end of March, and at least $300 every week by the end of September.  This isn't just a new years resolution for me, it is a goal that is absolutely crucial to be met for the survival of my business this year.

2. Adopt a rescue dog from Dachshund Rescue Australia.  I'd ideally like to welcome he/she into our family sometime before the end of March, but only if I am able to achieve goal #1 above first.

It is my hope that by keeping my goals simple and directly related to both my immediate and long term happiness that I will be able to dedicate the right amount of time and focus needed in order to achieve them. :)

So what about you guys?  What are your goals/resolutions for the upcoming year?
