Help Ellie and I to fight Animal Cruelty.

Hey lovelies,

In case you didn't know, today is 'Dog Day'.  I don't know what this means exactly, but I figured it would be the perfect opportunity to let you guys know that on Sunday the 18th of May this year Ellie and I will be walking in the RSPCA Million Paws Walk to help fight animal cruelty.

Did you know there were 49,581 individual cases of animal mistreatment, abuse and neglect reported last year in Australia?  It's awful to think that so many animals need to be rescued each and every day. :(  So that's why I'm walking with Ellie, to help these animals get the love, care and attention that they so desperately need.

But we need your help.. Please sponsor our walk to help fight animal cruelty!  All funds raised will support the work of the RSPCA in the prevention of cruelty to animals.

Simply click the link below to view our fundraising page and make a donation:

https://mpw-qld-2014.everydayhero.com/au/felicity-and-ellie

Any amount that you can donate is greatly appreciated!  Ellie and I will be walking twice a day in preparation leading up to the event, and I will be taking lots of photos on the actual day so that you can all see how we went. :)

Thank you for your support! :D

99. Buy a long haired English cream miniature dachshund.
100. Walk the dog every day.
101. Get engaged.

How I did:

Completed 66/101 items.

Items I'm especially happy to have crossed off:

Graduating Uni with a GPA of at least 5.  I'm just happy to have graduated Uni full stop, but to get higher than a 5.0 GPA was a lovely added bonus. :)

Starting my own blog design service/Making graphic and web design my full time job.  It might not pay well at the moment (or ever), but I'm glad I decided to be proactive and follow a passion of mine.

Making some new local friends/Finding a "blog buddy".  I've only made one good friend since I moved here, and she has since moved away, but I am so glad to have found her when I did.  I've also made several blog buddies which is awesome. :D

Telling B I love him every day for the 1001 days.  This was a pretty easy but still a totally important one for me.

Finding and renting an apartment that allows pets.  If I didn't cross off this item we wouldn't have Ellie right now. :P

Items I wish I had crossed off:

Learning to accept and love my body.  Hmm.. no, not quite.

Buying a long haired English cream miniature dachshund.  Unfortunately this type of dachshund is very rare and expensive in Australia, so I'm going to have to wait until next year or the year after.

Getting engaged.  Clearly this was a silly item for me to put on my list as it was completely out of my control.  Still, getting engaged would have been nice. ;)

To be financially independent/Earning more than $700 a week.  At the moment I'm lucky to be making $300 a week, which isn't exactly ideal, but I guess that's what happens when you decide to start your own business from scratch.

Developing old rolls of film/Scanning old photographs onto the computer.  Unfortunately I just didn't have enough time to get around to doing this.  I did develop and scan a few old rolls of film, just not all of them.

Final thoughts:

Considering I wasn't overly serious about the challenge to begin with, I think I did pretty well.  I set out to have fun with the project and that's exactly what I did.  I'd definitely recommend this project to others. :)

Snap Happy Sunday // Easter 2014!

Happy Easter everyone!  Ellie (who is currently sitting on my lap) and I both hope you had a lovely long weekend with your families and friends. :)  This Easter B, Ellie and I drove up to Toowoomba to visit our Dad's, and my baby brother of course, and then spent the night at my Mum's house on our drive back to the coast.  I was hoping Ellie would be better behaved this weekend as she was staying at unfamiliar places, but if anything her behaviour only got worse.. go figure! :P

What did you guys get up to this weekend?  Did you enjoy having a make up free weekend like I did? :)

Snap Happy Sunday // Dachshund Easter Bash!

I know Easter isn't until next weekend, but as far as the Brisbane Dachshund group is concerned, Easter was today.  In true Easter fashion it didn't rain.. it poured! however, that being said, we still had a wonderful time meeting other members and their lovely well dressed snags. :P

Ellie, wearing her short lived Easter bonnet.

Phoebe and Joey.

Clover.
Schnitz.
Ellie belly.
A big drop of water fell on her head, haha!
One soaked puppy!
Ellie pooped out on the way home.
What did you get up to this weekend?  What are your plans for Easter? :)

DIY Blog Design: How to install a post title graphic.

See that lilac coloured ribbon/flag like banner behind my post title?  It's pretty cool, huh?  I love how it brings your attention to my post titles whilst also acting as a sort of post divider. :)  If you're interested in learning how to install something similar on your own blog, then please stick around as you've come to the right place!

Create a horizontal graphic that is roughly 640 pixels wide (or however wide your blog posts are) and 5-40 pixels high.  This can be as simple as a straight block of colour, a subtle watercolour smudge or a fancy underline graphic.  Save this image as a .jpeg or .png if possible.

Upload this image to photobucket (or some other image hosting site) and grab the direct image URL.  Paste this image URL into a word document as you will need it again in a minute.

In Blogger, go to your 'Template' page and click on the button that says 'Customise'.  Once you are in the Blogger Template Designer, go down to 'Advanced' and scroll down to the bottom where it says 'Add CSS'.

In this section, copy and paste the following code:

h3.post-title {
background:url(Your Direct Image URL) no-repeat left;
height: 40px;
width: 640px;
padding-left: 6px;
padding-top: 15px;
margin-bottom: -10px
}

Change the highlighted sections as required, then hit enter once at the bottom of the code to view the changes in the preview section underneath.

You can also change the position of your graphic in relation to your date, post title and blog post text by playing around with the padding and margins.  This part can be quite fiddly, so make sure to back up your blog template beforehand.

Once you're happy with how everything looks, click on the button in the top right corner that says 'Apply to Blog' - and that's it, you're done! :D

Happy Blogging!

Snap Happy Sunday // Family Beach Day!

Today my Mum came over with our family dogs, Phoebe (pictured above) and Joey (not pictured at all because he was too busy running off all the time!), so B and I decided to take them down to our local dog beach. :)

Unlike the last time we went to the beach, Ellie wasn't having a bar of going into the water.

She much preferred to lie down with B and nap under a tree.

Phoebe wasn't a fan of the water either, but she insisted on being with Mum, so she assumed this position as a compromise. :P

As soon as Mum got out of the water though, Phoebe made it pretty clear that she was ready to go home!

What did you guys get up to this weekend?
