Snap Happy Sunday // Airlie Beach!

As you will probably already know if you follow me on Instagram, this weekend B and I decided to go on a much needed weekend away together to Airlie Beach, which is about 3 and a half hours south of where we live in Townsville.

Neither of us could afford to take a long weekend as we are saving up our holiday leave for our very first overseas trip to Bali towards the end of the year, so sadly we didn't have enough time to explore any of the Whitsunday Islands. It was still a nice little trip though, and we will definitely make sure to explore the islands sometime in the future.

It seemed that no matter where we were in Airlie Beach, there was always a beautiful view to be seen. Surrounded by gorgeous, lush, green mountains and the deepest greeny/blue ocean, it was like being in paradise.

For the one night we were there, we decided to head to down the esplanade for dinner and a drink. I can't remember the name of the restaurant we went to (bad blogger!) but I do remember that the custom Vegan pizza I ordered was absolutely delicious! Instead of your usual pizza sauce they used pureed pumpkin instead, and it was the most delicious base I have ever tasted in my life.

After dinner we grabbed some snacks and headed back to our hotel to watch a movie. We were both so exhausted from the long drive earlier that morning that we ended up in bed by 9pm.

Watching the sunrise from our hotel balcony.

While B had a little sleep in this morning, I was up at the crack of dawn and was lucky enough to witness this gorgeous sunrise from out hotel balcony. It was so much prettier in real life. Definitely worth waking up early for.

Sadly the beautiful weather didn't last very long, so after we'd finished our buffet breakfast and checked out of the hotel, we decided to visit Cedar Creek Falls which was about a 30 minute drive away from Airlie. I can't remember ever seeing a waterfall this close before, so it was a pretty special experience for me.

Afterwards we bummed around a little bit, then grabbed a second breakfast before starting the long drive back home.

Overall it was a great weekend, and we are really looking forward to hopefully returning next year! :)
