My First Custom Blog Design!

Yes, that's right! I recently completed my first custom blog design for the lovely Shelby from Chasing Birdies! In case you didn't know, Shelby used to blog under 'Sweet Confessions' but recently changed the name of her blog to 'Chasing Birdies' as she felt the name better represented who she is. I have been following Shelby for quite some time now, and I was beyond excited when I found out that I was going to be working with her!

Much like myself, Shelby is a self confessed perfectionist who takes the utmost pride in her blog. She knew exactly what she wanted from her new design and explained this to me perfectly. Needless to say she was a pleasure to work with! It didn't take me long to whip up her new design, and after making a few alterations her design was live within 24 hours! :)

So what do you guys think?
Would you trust me to give your blog a makeover?

Colour calibration + Blog design drama!

Up until today I had absolutely no idea what "colour calibration" meant, and right now I'm wishing that I didn't! Let's start from the beginning..

As I've mentioned on here before, I'm a bit of a closet blogger. Only 5 of my real life friends have ever seen my blog (as far as I am aware) and when we talk about my blog, we usually only discuss the content of my blog and not the blog design itself.

So you can imagine how shocked I was when one of these friends came over yesterday and commented on how the colour of my blog layout looked a lot different on my laptop to the way that it looked on her computer at home. I immediately asked her if my layout looked a peachy colour as I had seen it look this way before on my partners computer (I had always assumed that HIS computer was distorting it), to which she replied "yes". I then remembered my layout looking peachy one other time when I was using my brothers computer at my mothers house.. I was horrified! :|

All this time I thought my layout was a gorgeous, deep, very girly pink.. not a peachy, almost orangey type of colour! I realise my layout probably doesn't look that bad to all of you guys (wasn't orange/peach supposed to be the new pink once? lol) but to me it's a really big deal. :( I mean seriously, what else have I been editing in photoshop to look a certain way, when in reality it looks completely different on everybody else's computer? Why I hadn't I picked up on this sooner?

I asked B this morning if he knew how to fix it, and after an hour of him stuffing around with my computers settings he told me that he couldn't. B's the biggest computer whiz I know, so if he says that he can't fix it then I honestly don't know who could.

I'm supposed to be running a (hopefully) soon-to-be successful blog design service, so I guess I should be thankful that I've found out about this early on.. but not being able to fix the problem is like a giant slap in the face! B said I can borrow his computer to get the colours right before I start a blog design, which is very helpful, but holey moley talk about a lot of extra effort!

Anyway, enough of my ranting.. instead I would like to know whether or not any of you have had troubles with colour calibration in the past? and if so, how did you solve this problem?

Thoughts on owning a Sausage Dog.

They need to be walked at least once a day or they will literally walk themselves.

They like to eat alot and they will eat just about anything.. Prescription glasses, tissues, jewellery - you name it.

You will purchase and watch them destroy over 100 toys in their lifetime [I say this because my own 2 year old dachshund has already murdered 50+ toys].

Unless you train them really well they will not play fetch. If you throw a ball and they catch it, that ball is now theirs. They will not bring the ball back.

They can be extremely hard to train [and will more than likely train you instead].

Your bed will eventually become their bed. Get used to it.

They are extremely stubborn.

They shed hair like nobody’s business.

They have this incredible ability to store endless amounts of wee. They seem to store it up in the event that someone will return home from work, school, or simply taking out the garbage. As soon as you walk through that front door they will inevitably pee all over the place, and often all over you.

They are incredibly loyal to all family members and are welcoming of guests and other animals.

They are highly intelligent [don't let their playful attitude fool you].

They are beautiful to look at and have the most unique facial expression.

They are cuddly and affectionate [they will lick your face off].

They can be very funny and love to clown around.

They will love you until the day they die. :)

First things first - I am not in a position for change right now. So why, Mr Universe, do I suddenly feel ready for engagement and babies and all things related?

Assuming that B will one day want to marry me, we'd have to wait at least 5 more years in order for that to happen. As for getting engaged, it doesn't matter that we've already been together for 3 years or that I would actually enjoy having a long engagement, because B just isn't ready for that yet.. and I totally respect that. Also, up until now, neither of us have ever been overly eager to start a family too early (not that starting a family at our age would be considered early nowadays). We just automatically agreed that we would wait until we were married to start having babies. In fact I have actually been quite scared of raising a baby, and have been avoiding having one for as long as I can remember.

So seriously.. WHY? All I can seem to think about lately is what our future family would be like. From the house we would live in, to the hours we would work, to the meals that we would prepare, to pets that we would let sleep on our beds, to the genders/ages/names/appearances of our children.. it's getting beyond ridiculous! What good is dreaming about these things now when I know that we have to wait at least 3-5+ years for any of this to ever happen? :(

My question to all of you guys is how do you know when you're ready for change? Is it the result of finishing something and then moving on to something else? Or is it more a feeling that you get, like a random hint from the universe?

Proof my parents chose the right name.

So apparently Felicity means 'happiness', and going by these baby photos happy is exactly what I was!
