Are you a loyal reader?

Why hello there!  How are you?  Yes, sorry.. I know it's been a while.  Normally I would use being busy as the excuse for my lack of attention to my blog, but the truth is I just haven't been feeling it lately.. and I'm not sure I ever was.

You see, when I first started this blog I did so because I wanted to share photos.  The occasional rambling sure, but mostly just whole posts of photos.  Oh, and to-do lists!  I love my to-do lists. :)  I've never been much of a writer though.  Story teller - yes!  Writer - um, does being a good speller count?

So I've been doing a lot of thinking these past few weeks about where I want my online priorities to lie, and aside from my design business the only other thing I really care about is keeping my blog updated in the way I had originally intended.  The thing is though, I feel like my blog and my business are so interconnected that I need to be constantly keeping my blog updated with potential "traffic" worthy content.  And it's exhausting!

I realise that this notion is all in my head and that my business can run perfectly fine on it's own leaving my blog to be whatever I want it to be.  I suppose I'm just curious about what you guys think.  Are you happy for me to make this blog a "whenever" thing rather than a regular thing?  Would you still stick around if I posted mainly personal, unscripted posts?

I'm not saying that I'd be giving up features like Thankful Tuesdays or even my DIY blog design posts for that matter, but that's only because I genuinely enjoy writing these posts and like that they keep me accountable.

I guess I'm just interested to know who my loyal readers are. :)

P.s. If you are a loyal reader, make sure you come back in the next few days when I'll be announcing an awesome giveaway that I am teaming up with Kayleigh from Couture Girl for to give away to someone special.

DIY Blog Design: How to install a post divider image.

When scrolling through your blog, do you ever find that you have trouble telling where one post ends and another post begins?  Do you find that your blog looks a bit too cramped and could do with being spaced out more?  Perhaps you've seen another blog that has a cool separator graphic in between their blog posts and now you want one too?  Well, you've come to the right place!

Today I am going to show you step-by-step how to install a post divider graphic underneath your blog posts. :)

Create a horizontal image that is roughly the same width as your blog posts.  This can be as simple as a straight line or a line of coloured dots.  Save this image as a .jpeg or .png if possible.

Upload this image to photobucket (or some other image hosting site) and grab the direct image URL. Paste this image URL into a word document as you will need it again in a minute.

In Blogger, go to your 'Template' page and click on the button that says 'Edit HTML'.  Place your cursor anywhere in the code and then use the 'CTRL + F' command on your keyboard to bring up the search option. Search for: <div class='post-footer-line post-footer-line-3'>

Directly after/underneath the code you just found, add the following code: <center><img src='PLACE YOUR IMAGE URL HERE'/></center> then replace the text I have highlighted in pink with your direct photobucket image URL.

Click the 'Preview template' button and if you like what you see then click 'Save template'.  All done!

I personally chose not to install a post divider graphic on my blog as I wanted to have a graphic behind my post title instead and felt that having both would look a little over the top.  Having both can sometimes be a good thing though, particularly if you choose to have advertisements shown in between your blog posts (see example below).

Grey watercolour post divider graphic + Pink post title background graphic that I installed on Kayleigh's blog.

If you're interested in learning how to add a background graphic to your post titles, let me know in the comments below and I will get started on another tutorial.  If you have any other suggestions for my DIY Blog Design series, please let me know in the comments section as well and I will do my best to help you guys out. :)

Happy Blogging!

Reading:  'Lolita' by Vladimir Nabokov.  I actually finished this a couple of weeks ago, but I thought it was worth mentioning. :)

Watching:  Castle, How I Met Your Mother (I'm only watching it because I insist on finishing what I start), Modern Family, Breaking Bad, Criminal Minds, The Big Bang Theory, Ja'mie: Private School Girl.. hmm, yeah. I think that might be it.

Listening to:  'My Way' by Frank Sinatra.  It reminds me of my Pa.

Smelling:  Vicks VapoRub. Damn head cold. :(

Thinking about:  Whether or not I should buy myself a new dress tomorrow.

Wishing:  That money grew on trees.

Working on:  Design jobs, and trying to get more design jobs. :P

Loving:  Making some extra money from my new babysitting gigs.

Anticipating:  Christmas, my five year anniversary with B, my baby brother Lucas being born, moving house, and finally getting ourselves a puppy. :)
