Obscure Lucidity.

Hey everyone,

Today I thought I would share a quirky poem that I have recently written for one my creative literature assignments.  It took me SO long to choose a topic for this poem, but in the end I decide to go with 'lucid dreaming' and I'm so glad that I did because I found this subject really easy to write about.  I posted this first draft on my class page a little over a week ago and so far I have only received feedback from the course examiner.  She was really lovely though and couldn't really offer me any constructive criticism, so I figured I would post this poem on my blog in hopes that one of my awesome readers might have some constructive feedback for me. ;)

For this assignment we're supposed to present a first draft and a good copy, so even though I'm entirely happy with my poem as it is, unfortunately I have to alter it somehow in order to meet the assignment criteria.  So please, if you have a spare five minutes, I would love loveee LOVE to hear what you have to say!

Obscure Lucidity

Violently vivid, not unrealistic
The dreams which in I scream.
A ghost inside a world upturned;
Silent tears a heavy stream.

Paralysed, from the inside out
Trying hard not to engage,
For each light switch that I turn on
Traps me in another cage.

Walls turned floors, dimensions change
I fight the urge to climb;
Of no avail, defences cave
To experiences so sublime.

And as I wake, exhaling fear
Beneath the bed I sweep,
No truths untold, nor lies unsung
Just secrets that I keep.

An original poem written by Felicity (21/04/2013).

I also have to write a short story aimed at an adult audience which I intend to start and hopefully finish by this evening.  I've decided that I'm going to write about the recent near death of my Nana, so depending on how I feel about it I might even share that short story on here as well. :)

Thank you so much for reading and supporting me!

Pursuit of Felicity turns 2 today!

Source

Happy 2nd Birthday to Pursuit of Felicity!

Hey lovelies,

I can't believe that today marks two whole years since I first started this little blog of mine.  In a way it seems like it was just yesterday, but at the same time it feels like I've been blogging forever.. Good thing I enjoy it so much! :)

Unfortunately I won't be celebrating with any cupcakes today, although I will be whipping up a healthy avocado pasta dish for dinner, so if that turns out to be as delicious as I think it will I'll be sure to post the recipe for you all. ;)

Thank you to everyone for your continued support!  Here's to another year of blogging!

My life lately: Food, food and more food.

1. Finished off my Easter treats and saved the best 'til last. How cute is the chocolate butterfly? :D
2. Received this awesome inspirational poster in the mail from Tico and Tina!

3. Tried out Tanya Burr's 'Mila Kunis' smoky eye makeup tutorial and fell in love.
4.Gave myself a glittery pink manicure. :)

5. Started taking magnesium supplements before bed. They're great! Basically stopped my daily headaches from occurring and are helping me to sleep better at night. :D
6. Picked up these super cute/super comfy work out tops from Cotton On Body.

7. Visited my local farmers market for the first time. It was pissing down rain when I went and my shoes filled up with water, but it was worth it. :)
8. Because I've started eating clean and intend on doing so for good, I've been trying to use up all of the processed food sitting in the pantry. This is just one of the naughty concoctions that I've consumed recently. (Note: I've since stopped trying to use up the nutella as it's caused me to break out in cyst like acne on my chin. Not good!)

9. This strange looking mess was actually a 100% organic, 100% delicious stack of pancakes.  Sadly it didn't photograph as well as it tasted.
10. Since cutting out gluten from my diet (well, almost anyway) I made the switch to brown rice and decided to try out some brown rice recipes. This was a pumpkin and spinach risotto and it tasted ok - nothing flash! I'm moving on to try quinoa next as I've heard it's meant to be even better for you. :)

Head shots.

Hey lovelies,

I hope you're all having a great weekend!  Today (and the past week) I've been busy slaving away on my first assignment for my final semester at Uni that is due tomorrow morning, so instead of writing up a half arsed post I thought I'd just quickly share those head shots that I mentioned B and I had had taken over Easter. :)

As you can see from the watermark above, our talented photographer was none other than B's older brother Tim, a Toowoomba based photographer experienced in portrait, landscape, event, wedding and commercial/advertorial photography.

B (on the right) and his younger brother Matt (on the left) also had their head shots taken, and it was interesting to see just how much they actually do look alike when asked to strike a similar pose under studio lighting.

Now I realise that most of my readers are from overseas, however if you do happen to live in or around the Toowoomba area and are looking for a quality photographer that I can personally guarantee you will feel comfortable working with, then I would highly recommend Tim's services. :)

You can check out more of Tim's wonderful photography by visiting his website here.

The Shopaholic Tag.

1. Would you consider yourself a shopaholic?
Definitely, but I'm trying really hard to control myself.  I give myself a silent pat on the back every time I go to the shops and only come home with what I went for.

2. How would you classify your style?
I don't really think I can classify it.  I just wear whatever I want to. :)

3. What store can you not leave without buying at least one thing?
Kmart! Everything is just always so unbelievably cheap.

4. Where do you find the best deals?
Kmart, priceline, discount chemists, Jay Jays.

5. What designer are you willing to splurge for?
No big name designers at the moment unfortunately.

6. Do you have a "go to" shopping outfit?
Yes. If I'm going clothes shopping I'll always try to wear a loose fitting dress and ballet flats. :)

7. What is your guilty pleasure? (Aside from make up)
Dresses, shoes and comfy (but pricey) sweaters. :P

8. What is one staple clothing piece you cannot live without?
Definitely dresses.

9. What is a trend you hope never goes out of style?
Peter pan collars.  I just think they're so adorable! :)

10. What trend did you love that passed way to quickly?
Cargo pants.  I used to wear them all the time when I was a kid, but haven't seen them around for ages.

11. Who is your fashion icon?
I don't really have one.  I get inspiration from anyone or anything.

My life lately.

Tried MaltEaster bunnies for the first time ever!

Cooked up some amazing butter chicken from scratch. :)

Scored a free Country Pumpkin pizza from Pizza Capers.  It was delicious!

Had professional head shots taken by B's talented brother Tim.

Spent Easter Monday with these gorgeous faces. :)

Project: Longer Locks - 6 Month Update!

Hey lovelies,

Wow! I almost can't believe that today marks 6 months since I first started my longer locks project! The months have just flown by so fast!

It's been just over two months since my last progress report, so today I am here to share my latest measurements with you all. :)

So far this project has been very eye opening for me as not only have I been researching, introducing and eliminating a variety of products into my hair care routine, but I've also started looking into my overall diet and daily fitness and making adjustments accordingly.

What I've been doing to promote healthy hair growth:

  • Washing my hair once every 2-3 days using the Lee Stafford Hair Growth Shampoo, Hair Growth Treatment, and Hair Growth Conditioner.
  • Switching my shampoo up one day a week to a shampoo for colour treated hair (whatever I have in my shower at the time) then applying the Toni & Guy 'Reconstruction Mask' Deep Conditioner to the ends of my hair.
  • Applying 2 pumps of Lee Stafford's Nourishing Miracle Oil (a Moroccan argon oil) to the mid lengths/ends of my hair while it's still damp after being washed.  I'll also apply another pump to the ends of my hair on the in between days as I find it helps to keep my hair shiny and manageable.
  • Using a wide toothed comb to comb through wet hair, starting at the ends and working my way upwards.
  • Using the Michel Mercier detangling brush for fine hair when my hair is dry.
  • Only using snag free hair elastics (they do still cause a little bit of breakage, but no where near as much as other elastics I've used in the past).
  • Not curling or straightening my hair, and only using a hair dryer for special occasions.
  • Avoiding regular hair trims/colours (last week I had 1cm taken off and a semi permanent colour put through my hair for the first time in over 7 months.  I will probably wait another 6 months before having this done again).
Other things that might be helping:

  • Taking 2 Odourless Fish Oil/Vitamin D3 capsules and 1 Vitamin B Complex supplement daily.
  • Only drinking filtered water and avoiding drinking out of plastic water bottles as much as possible. This means no alcohol, soft drink, milk, juices etc.
  • Maintaining a diet that consists of around roughly 80% natural, unprocessed foods (I'm now aiming for 100%).
  • Going to the gym and working out at least three times per week.
  • Getting a full nights sleep.

Hopefully some of you found this post helpful and will be able to incorporate a few of these tips into your own healthy hair growth regime!  I probably wont get the chance to update you guys again in two months time as I will be out on my teaching internship, however I will definitely make sure to update you all at the 9 month mark sometime towards the end of June. :)
