25 while 25.

Hey lovelies,

So following on from Thursdays post, here is my official list of the 25 things that I intend on doing before I turn 26 next year:

1. Find a second job working in retail (chemist, pet store, clothing store) to support myself as I build up my design business.

2. Be earning at least $700 per fortnight from my design business alone.

3. Get back down to 55kg.  It's going to be hard, but I know you can do it.

4. Buy a new car.

5. Get fully comprehensive car insurance.

6. Continue to grow my hair out.

7. Reach 500 followers on bloglovin' organically.  In other words, let your readers find you.

8. Buy a new, more comfortable, high quality computer chair.

9. Start making YouTube videos again.

10. Scan and save old photos from family albums onto the computer.

11. Go to the doctors and ask to be tested for hypothyroid.

12. Start a herb garden.

13. Develop any old rolls of film that my Mum still has.

14. Spend 3-4 days without the internet.  Preferably on a vacation.

15. Take a cooking class.

16. Take photos of Ellie and Lucas at Christmas time.

17. Read 'Dexter's Final Cut' that Mum gave me for Christmas.

18. Sort out the back garden, or at least the bushes along the side fence where Ellie keeps finding random food scraps.

19. Start wearing make up again.  You need to put more effort into your appearance.

20. Walk Ellie more often.  Clearly every day isn't going to happen, so aim for every second day.

21. Find new blogs to read and start commenting more often.

22. Buy a new, nice fitting, comfy pair of jeans.

23. Buy a decent video camera.

24. Buy an apple product, like an iPhone or a mac laptop.

25.  Create a '26 while 26' list.

Wish me luck and I'll let you know how I go this time next year!

The Birthday Post // My thoughts on turning 25!

Hey guys!

Today is a very special day for me as I have officially been alive for a quarter of a century.. crazy right?  It feels like just yesterday that I was an extremely awkward twelve year old girl scrawling the name of her Primary school crush on the inside of her clipboard, all whilst listening to Britney Spears and S Club 7 on repeat. :P  So am I having a quarter life crisis?  Not quite.  Although I have managed to come down with the flu which is making me feel like the world is ending (thanks for that B!). :P

A few years ago I shared a well thought out list of things I wanted to achieve before I turned thirty (read it here) and although there are a few things on that list that I don't mind not accomplishing, it's a little bit daunting to see that so far I've only managed to cross out four things from that list in total!  That being said, most of the big things I want to accomplish are things that are dependent on time, and they probably won't happen until I'm closer to the thirty mark anyway, but still.. wanting to have my first baby before I turn thirty gives me less than five years to ideally get engaged, get married, purchase our first home together, get settled, get pregnant.. yeah, daunting!

Anyway, enough about the future!  Instead how about we look over my 24 while 24 list that I prepared for myself around this same time last year? :)  I haven't taken a look at this list since I very first posted it, so it will be interesting to see whether or not I actually stuck to achieving these goals.

24 while 24

1. Expand my design business to include personalised invitations, business cards etc.
Woohoo!  This is already looking promising. :D

2. Make graphic and web design my full time job.
Done!  Made it official on September 26th, 2013.

3. Be earning more than $700 per week by the end of January.
Yeah, no.  Not by a long shot.  I'm in the process of putting my resume together again so I can look for a second job.

4. Move into a 3 bedroom house or apartment that allows pets, has air conditioning, modern appliances etc.
Close enough.  A three bedroom place was slightly out of our budget, so we settled for a lovely two bedroom place instead which has all the space we need right now anyway.

5. Buy a long haired English cream miniature dachshund puppy.
Ha, I wish!  This type of dachshund is so incredibly rare (and so darn expensive) that it will be the end of next year at the earliest before we can even look at getting one.  That being said, we ended up getting Ellie in February and I could not be happier with her. :)

6. Spend more time with our "couple" friends.
Yes and no.  We did end up having some of our couple friends over for dinner, but nowhere near as often as I would have liked.

7. Spend more time with my childhood best friend, Jamie, and her soon-to-be-born son.
Well, yes.  I've seen her twice since bub was born and I am seeing her again next month. :)

8. Achieve my current dream body at the gym, i.e., the starting of a six pack, tighter thighs and flab free arms.
HAH!  Pretty sure I quit the gym shortly after posting this list and have gained a tonne of weight since then after I became med free in December.

9. Continue to eat clean and stay away from alcohol.
I ate, and still do eat, a hell of a lot better than I ever did in the past, however I don't eat entirely clean anymore.  I also stayed away from alcohol for almost 9 whole months, but not long enough to be able to cross this goal off my list.  I still only rarely drink alcohol though.

10. Buy a new computer desk.
Yep! and I love it. :)

11. Buy a new, high quality, university style computer chair.
Unfortunately I couldn't afford one.

12. Buy a new, correctly colour calibrated, desktop computer.
Done!  Designing blogs for clients is so much easier now!

13. Find the perfect chicken curry pie recipe.
I'm beginning to think there isn't one. :(

14. Take B on a mini vacation when he finally gets some time off from working at the hospital.
Our "vacation" time consisted of moving house and visiting family for Christmas/Lucas's birth.  So yeah, not exactly quality relaxation time.

15. Reach 500 followers on bloglovin'.
Hmm.. not quite, not even close actually. :P

16. Start making Youtube videos again.
Yeah, no.

17. Finally sell or give away the clothes that I no longer wear.
I made a few of my cousins and step siblings very happy. :)

18. Grow my hair out to the top of my birthmark by my next birthday.
I wish!

19. Buy a lottery ticket.
I simply did not have the money to blow on luxuries like this.

20. Donate blood.
Gah!  I fail as a human being.  Although I did actually get the whooping cough vaccine booster, so at least I managed to do something to help my fellow human.

21. Buy a new car.
Yeah, didn't happen.

22. Get fully comprehensive car insurance.
As above.

23. Get engaged to B.
Well there is always tonight, but truth be told, I'd rather get engaged when I'm not struggling to keep my head up from the flu. :P

24. Create a '25 while 25' list.
Hmm, not yet.  I will be posting this list tomorrow or the day after. :)

Well, it just goes to show that I clearly need to have my goals written out in front of me at all times if I have any hope of achieving them.  I barely managed to complete a third of the goals on my list, let alone half of them!  It's obviously all B's fault for failing to propose to me again.. just kidding! :P

Come back later this week to check out my '25 while 25' goals list. :)

Snap Happy Sunday // Australia Zoo.

Today, in celebration of our Mums 50th birthday last week, me, B, my Mum and my brother Mitchell all went to Australia Zoo for our first time ever.  It was such an amazing day, and we saw so many beautiful animals.  Here are just a few of my favourites snaps from the day. :)

Have you ever been to Australia Zoo before?  What was your favourite animal?  Mine were the giraffes, tigers, crocodiles, tortoises, and the otters.. oh and the koalas! :P

Buttercream & Fondant Cupcake Decorating Class.

Last night I went with my best friend, Katie, and her Mum, Deb, to a cupcake decorating class held at Buttercream & Fondant in Jindalee, Brisbane.  The two hour class cost us $39 each (usually $90 each) as we purchased our tickets through the Groupon website here and it was well worth the money (and on my part, the travel).  Included in our booking price were light refreshments, a glass of sparkling wine, 6 cupcakes for us to decorate and take home, a takeaway container filled with pre-prepared buttercream frosting, and two reasonably sized rectangles of fondant icing for us to play with. :)

Not only did we learn how to make the perfect buttercream frosting, but we also learned how to position the piping bags properly and which tips to use to get the best dispersion of a particular style of frosting.  As you can see from the photos below I was a pretty slow learner when it came to the buttercream frosting.. but the important thing to remember is that they tasted great! :P

We were also given a pretty detailed lesson on different ways to play around with fondant such as using moulds, cutters, imprints etc. which I found very interesting, although I don't personally enjoy eating fondant myself.

Overall we had a really good night and I would definitely recommend this class to a friend. :)

A new service + a special introductory offer!

Hey lovelies,

Today I just wanted to take a quick moment to let you all know about a valuable new service that I am about to start offering at Pursuit of Felicity Designs. :)

Basically what I plan on offering is a monthly blog back up service where once a month, someone you trust (i.e. me), would log into your Blogger account to:
- back up your blog posts
- back up your blog design template
- email you a copy of both of the above backed up files
- give you a sense of security in the event that something ever goes wrong
- save you time and having to remember to routinely do all of this yourself

It's very important to make sure that you are routinely backing up both your blog posts and your blog design template in case your account ever gets hacked and your blog gets deleted or tampered with, you accidentally delete your own blog or blog design template by mistake, or you make a change to your blog and decide you don't like it and want to change it back.. the list goes on!

In fact, in the past two months alone I have had three clients contact me in a frantic panic as they had accidentally deleted their blog design templates whilst trying to edit their designs.  As they didn't have their blog design templates backed up beforehand I then had to log back in and fix up their designs, almost from scratch, a task that would have been a lot quicker for me to complete (and less costly for my clients) if I could have simply uploaded their most recent blog design templates.

So how much would such a service cost you ask?  Well.. for 6 months of this particular service I am asking for a very affordable one off payment of $50 AUD.  This works out to be roughly $8.35 a month for the security of knowing that both your blog posts and blog design are being routinely backed up.  Not too bad at all is it?  But wait.. it gets better!

As an introductory special, I am offering all of my loyal clients and readers 50% off their first 6 months.  This works out to be a one off payment of only $25 AUD, so $4.15 a month!  Hard to refuse isn't it?

Plus if at any stage you recommend my monthly blog back up service to one of your friends, and they mention your name when signing up, you will automatically get an extra month of my back up services completely free of charge - just to say thank you. :)

If this offer sounds like something you would be interested in, simply send me an email to with your paypal email address and I will send out your invoice along with a follow up email letting you know what date you can expect to receive your first month of back up files.  It's as simple and as easy as that!

Please let me know if you have any questions.  I look forward to hearing from you all. :)

Snap Happy Sunday // Ellie gets desexed!

Happy Sunday Mothers Day guys!  I hope you're all having a wonderful weekend with your Mums. :)

Speaking of motherhood, exactly ten days ago Ellie went into her local vet with the potential to one day be a mother, and seven hours later she came home with a cone of shame after having been desexed.  It sounds so horrible when worded like that, and I felt pretty horrible for doing it at the time, but it's so reassuring to know that she won't get knocked up by some random dog at the dog park in the future. :P

The poor little mite has been wearing this ugly cone of shame Elizabethan collar all week long, because the second we take it off she goes straight for her stitches.  Fortunately we're returning to the vet later on this afternoon to get her stitches taken out.. finally! :D

Have you ever taken your puppy to be desexed before?  Did you feel as guilty as I did?

April Design Work!

Hello lovelies,

Before I begin my monthly blog design showcase I first want to thank those of you who were kind enough to have donated to the RSPCA million paws walk fundraiser that Ellie and I are participating in later this month - your contributions are greatly appreciated and are going towards an amazing cause that is very close to my heart! :)  If you haven't had the chance to read my post about the fundraiser yet, you can find it right here.

As for my April blog designs, it's pretty safe to say that April was a slower month for me than usual.. I'm blaming this on the Easter bunny. ;)  Still, in saying that, if you're interested in having your blog redesigned now is the time to contact me. I currently have a wait time of only 1-2 weeks, which is really really good. :)

Anyway, without further ado, here is a sample of some of the blog designs that I have been working recently..

Custom Blog Design for Kayleigh from Couture Girl

This is the fourth custom blog design that I have created for Kayleigh since I first started my design business.  Kayleigh wanted a change from her usual pink/peachy coloured layout, and opted for a simple design that would make her photographs and post content the main focus of her blog.  I personally love the new "clean" look and find it to be much more editorial and grown up.  What do you guys think? :)

Custom Blog Design for Tracey from Rose Petals Past

Tracey is a lovely lady who runs an amazing art business called 'Rose Petals Past' where she not only sells her hand made art pieces but also teaches classes from her home studio.  Having been one of her students in the past, I was delighted when she contacted me to help design and set up her new blog.  Overall we went for a rather simple design to make sure that her artwork would be her readers main focus, but I also ensured that her brand shone through in term of fonts, textures, colours etc.  I even managed to include some of her custom artwork in the header banner - isn't she talented? :D

Custom Blog Design for Yasmin from Be You

In keeping with the theme of simple blog designs, this next blog design was also very simple, but with a touch of colour and cuteness thrown in.  The purple and yellow colour palette that Yasmin chose for me works really well against the all white background and sets a rather cheerful and inviting tone to her blog without overpowering her photographs or content. :)

Custom Blog Design for Lindsay from Lindsay Frances

Last but not least, the final blog design I have to show you this month is for the super sweet Lindsay who I have worked with once before.  This time around Lindsay wanted her design to be much more simple (see what I mean about a simple theme?) but still just as girly as before.  We achieved this look by sticking with a basic colour palette of pink, grey and white and keeping any fancy detailing down to a minimum.

Which design was your favourite this month?  I love them all, it's too hard for me to choose just one!
Make sure to pop on over and show these amazing ladies some blog love. :D
